10th Anniversary of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial
November 1-3, 2007

The Anniversary Celebration Ceremony program took place Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the memorial and included formal military honors, remarks by former and current military women representing each of the services as well as senior Department of Defense and other government officials. Featured speakers included: The Honorable Robert M. Gates Secretary of Defense, The Honorable Gordon H. Mansfield Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs, General James E. Cartwright Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Brigadier General Wilma L. Vaught, USAF (Ret.), President of the Women's Memorial Foundation. Captain (Ret.) Dawn Halfaker provided insight as a woman in military service during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
