Omar and Bob Wodruff
ABC Team Injured in Iraq Meet Up With Iraqi Interpreter Who Saved Woodruff's Life in Syria

Omar is an Iraqi who was working as an interpreter with the U.S. Army when ABC News Journalist, Bob Woodruff, was injured in Iraq January 2006, and was with him in the tank when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.

The soldiers who were with them that day say if it wasn't for Omar, who administered Bob's immediate first aid, he probably would not have survived. "It was Omar who said, 'No, no we can get him out of here,'" recalled Maj. Mike Jason.
