Halfaker and Associates Proudly Sponsors 2009 Minority Women in Business Awards Reception and Gala
Washington, DC – Halfaker and Associates was honored to join in saluting the
achievements, contributions, and accomplishments of minority women in business by sponsoring the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 29th Annual Legislative Conference, Minority Women in Business Awards Reception and Gala. The awards reception was held on September 25, 2009 at the Embassy Suites Hotel Convention Center in Washington DC and highlighted the vast achievements of several distinguished minority women in business.
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy, research and educational institute that aims to help improve the socioeconomic circumstances of African Americans and other underserved communities. The organization’s Annual Legislative Conference was attended by thousands of elected officials, industry leaders, celebrities, media, emerging leaders and everyday Americans. The conference included dozens of policy forums, general sessions, exhibits, a job fair, book signings and vast networking opportunities.
This year, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation proudly awarded the Minority Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Dorothy Height, the Chair and President Emerita for the National Council of Negro Women. For nearly half a century, Dorothy Irene Height has given leadership to the struggle for equality and human rights for all people. Her life exemplifies her passionate commitment for a just society and her vision of a better world.
Tracey Pinson, Director of Small Business Programs for the United States Army received the Small Business Champion Award. Also receiving awards were: Joan Robinson-Berry, Director, Strategic Work Placement and Small Business Liaison, Boeing, Executive Leadership Award; Phyllis Shearer Jones, President and CEO, Elan International, LLC, International Business Award; Dr. Teresa Merriweather Orok, VP of Institutional Research, Planning and Sponsored Programs, Historically Black College or University Award; and Aundrea Gregg, Student, Howard University, Emerging Leader Award.
