Halfaker and Associates’ CEO Interviews on Executive Leaders Radio

Executive Leaders RadioWashington, DC – Halfaker and Associates’ President and CEO, Dawn Halfaker, appeared on Executive Leaders Radio on January 14, 2010. Executive Leaders Radio host, Herb Cohen, Joann Tobin of Bank of America, and Gordon Bernhardt of Bernhardt Wealth Management conducted the interview to share Dawn’s business success story with a diverse listener audience to help others learn “what it takes to succeed.”

During the interview, Dawn discussed how she had not planned on becoming a business owner until she suffered severe injuries in Iraq and was medically retired from the US Army in 2005. While in the hospital, Dawn was determined to take control of her life and destiny. Her serious injuries drastically changed her life, and the recovery process constantly pushed her out of her comfort zone. Dawn’s remarkable adaptability to new and challenging situations laid the foundation for Halfaker and Associates’ success.

During her yearlong recovery at Walter Reed, Dawn explored numerous employment opportunities and finally landed a rewarding job as a consultant for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, DARPA, to help bring new technologies to the Army and save lives on the battlefield. With the support from her family, friends and mentors, she capitalized on further consulting opportunities and ultimately founded Halfaker and Associates in 2006. Today, her company has 135 employees and generates around 14 million dollars in revenue.

Dawn credits the leadership traits she developed during her time in the military for helping shape her into a successful businesswoman. As a West Point graduate and Military Police Officer, Dawn quickly learned how to lead a diverse group of people to accomplish any mission. Dawn also recognizes the importance mentorship has played in Halfaker and Associates’ success. She learned best practices, forged networking relationships, and gained valuable support through key mentors that helped her excel in the business world.

Dawn would like to thank the Executive Leadership Radio staff for the opportunity to share her business success story with fellow entrepreneurs.
