Halfaker and Associates’ CEO Delivers Keynote Address at Spring Defense Procurement Conference
On May 5, 2009, Halfaker and Associates’ CEO, Dawn Halfaker, delivered a keynote address at the 2009 Spring Department of Defense Procurement Conference in Orlando, FL to convey the importance of the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Program. Halfaker shared her compelling personal story of how she found a new purpose as a small business owner after being severely injured during a 2004 combat patrol in Iraq. Establishing Halfaker and Associates has allowed Halfaker to continue to support the mission, continue to serve, and stay connected to her soldiers and military family.
Halfaker and Associates is in the business of providing strategic consulting and national security services to the US Government and has grown since its inception in 2006 to a $10 million, 105-employee firm. Halfaker believes the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Program is critical to the survival of veteran owned businesses, a group of entrepreneurs that provide a unique perspective and capability to the defense sector. Additionally, Halfaker strongly supports the critical mentoring programs that aim to assist business building capacity so veteran-owned small businesses can thrive in the industry.
Halfaker wholeheartedly believes that veterans strengthen their community, generate wealth, and hire other disabled veterans. Halfaker hopes that her message at the 2009 conference will ensure the strength and continued success of the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Program that provides veterans vital opportunities to continue to serve.
