Captain (Ret.) Dawn Halfaker is a Featured Speaker at the Drug Enforcement Administration Honoring Our Veterans Program
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Honoring Our Veterans Program took place on November 3, 2008 at the DEA Headquarters in Arlington, VA. The program focused on paying tribute to those in the DEA who have served and continue to serve in the United Stated Armed Forces. The program included formal military honors and remarks by the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Administrator, Ms. Elyse Sharpe, and Mr. Phillip Springer, Group Supervisor of the DEA Houston Division. Acting Administrator of the DEA, Ms. Michele M. Leonhart presented during the program and also introduced Captain (Ret.) Dawn Halfaker who was featured as a keynote speaker.
Dawn Halfaker reflected on the importance of remembering, honoring, and thanking our Veterans. She discussed the makeup of a Veteran and what their service and sacrifice mean to the Nation. “All of America's Veterans have placed the nation's security before their own lives. Their sacrifice creates a debt that America can never fully repay. Yet there are certain things that we can do. We can remember, honor and thank."
In closing, Dawn Halfaker encouraged everyone to go out of their way to say thank you to our Veterans as they all command the lasting gratitude and respect of the American People.
There are many quiet heroes among us who deserve to be honored on this Veterans Day, and every day, for their service to and sacrifice for our country. In the DEA there are more than 450 members of the Ready Reserves; individuals who at any time could be deployed to Iraq and/or Afghanistan, are currently deployed there or who have already been deployed and have returned to their positions in our workforce. There are more than 1,200 DEA Employees who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States.
