Coronado, CA - Halfaker and Associates’ CEO Dawn Halfaker spoke at the Women in Defense San Diego Chapter’s 2nd Annual Women in Defense Symposium on February 25th, 2010. The event was held at the Lowes Coronado Bay Resort near Dawn’s hometown of San Diego, CA. The mission of the San Diego Chapter of Women in Defense is to promote networking and professional development opportunities for women in national defense and security, support military service members, and encourage partnerships between the local community and military bases such as SPAWAR San Diego.

During Dawn’s Fireside Chat session, she was interviewed by Carol Lebeau, a popular news anchor who  reported on San Diego’s Channel 10 news for 28 years. Dawn spoke about her experiences from being a graduate of Rancho Bernardo High School and the United States Military Academy to heading a business dedicated to serving the defense and security needs of the Nation.

After graduating from USMA with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Dawn served for nearly five years as a Military Police Officer when she was severely injured during combat in Iraq in 2004. Following her arduous recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Dawn was medically retired from the Army and founded the strategic staffing and consulting firm Halfaker and Associates in 2006.

Today, Halfaker employs over 130 highly skilled and experienced employees around the world and provides invaluable services that bolster national defense and homeland security through customized solutions and focused consulting in areas including physical security, program management, and information technology.

From her roots as a scholar, athlete and leader at Rancho Bernardo High School to branching out as a major player in the defense industry and champion of wounded warriors, Dawn has grown and flourished as a leader in the defense of the Nation. Dawn and Halfaker and Associates are proud to represent the ideals of Women in Defense and to have been able to reach out to others in the field through the symposium in Coronado Bay. Dawn expresses her deep and heartfelt thanks to the San Diego Chapter for giving her the opportunity to address the symposium.
