Halfaker and Associates’ Supports MS Society’s Chesapeake Challenge

MS Bike Ride Team 2009
The 2009 Maryland MS Bike Ride Team raised $19,000.00 for the MS Society

Halfaker and Associates’ Director of Contracts and Operations, Mike King, is set to participate in his sixth annual Maryland Multiple Sclerosis (MS) bike ride with the Lockheed Martin Team to help raise money for the MS Society.  The Lockheed Martin team has participated in the event since 2001 and has raised over $200,000 in donations for the National MS Society. The 2009 ride, the “Chesapeake Challenge,” will take place from June 13-14, 2009 at Washington College in Chestertown, MD.

Chestertown is a new event location and offers several great routes (30, 62.5, and 100 miles) that are very flat, including some beautiful farmland and coastlines.  This year’s event will be hosted in conjunction with the National MS Society’s “Challenge Walk,” a two day, 50 km event.  These events are great outlets for individuals, like Mike King, to challenge oneself physically and philanthropically.

The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who strive to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis.  The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.  They advocate for those living with MS to move legislation forward in areas that most affect the 400,000 Americans impacted by the disease, including funding for research, health insurance, long term care and disability rights.

Please consider helping the cause for the MS Society.  There is still time to join Mike and his team as a cyclist, volunteer, or team supporter.
