The Annual golfing event raised $33,000 to benefit veterans and families. |
Andrews Air Force Base, MD – On October, 1st 2009, Halfaker and Associates helped the American Legion to raise $33,000 for children of U.S. Military personnel killed on duty since 9/11 by sponsoring the American Legion’s 2nd Annual Heroes to Hometowns (H2H) Golf Classic. The H2H Golf Classic not only raised funds for children in need, but also brought together wounded veterans and potential employers to mix, mingle and play golf for a great cause. Seventy-four players, including fifteen wounded-warriors from Walter Reed Army Medical Center, set out on the Courses at Andrews Air Force Base with the top finishers coming from the Department of Virginia and the runner-up team, a foursome of wounded warriors, from Walter Reed.
Heroes to Hometowns further assists wounded veterans by establishing support networks and coordinating resources for injured service-members when they return to their hometowns. The American Legion works hard to assure that each returning veteran receives a welcome-home celebration and if required, temporary financial assistance, pro-bono financial planning, housing assistance, home and vehicle adaptation, government claims assistance, entertainment options, and family support.
